ICI Academic║ The Delegation of ICI Attended the Twelfth National Curriculum Symposium

The 12th National Curriculum Symposium was held at Wenzhou University from April 16 to 18. Professor Cui Yunhuo, Professor Ke Zheng, Professor Wu Gangping, Professor An Guiqing, Associate Professor Wang Tao, Associate Professor Lei Hao and doctoral student Huang Yiheng, Wang Danyi and Lu Zhuotao attended and delivered keynote reports.


Brief Introduction of the Reports


Keynote Reports

Professor Cui Yunhuo, the Director of ICI, made an online report entitled “On the connotation and attribute of discipline practice”, shared his insights on the relationship between discipline and practice, discipline practice and learning.


Professor Wu Gangping made a report entitled “The reform of the organization of curriculum content and teaching methods”. He mainly discussed the theoretical problem of the reform of the organization of curriculum content and teaching methods.


Professor Ke Zheng delivered a keynote speech on the topic of “Research on the relationship between exam-oriented education and students’ creativity”. He believed that, there is no sufficient evidence to prove that the creativity of Chinese students is significantly lower than that of other countries. However, studies show that exam-oriented education has an obvious restrictive effect on the creativity of the top students in our country, which is a major issue.

Professor An Guiqing made a report entitled “The examination and comparison of classroom discourse in four countries and regions of Asia and Europe- empirical analysis of OECD Global Teaching Insight Video Research (GTI) data”. Based on the data of GIT, Prof. An examined and compared the basic forms of classroom discourse in junior high school mathematics classes in China, Japan, Britain and Germany, and its influence on students’ learning achievement. The study reveals the characteristics of the discourse in Chinese mathematics classroom, Prof. An then put forward some valuable suggestions on how to further improve the classroom discourse practice of teachers and students.

Huang Yiheng, a doctoral student from ICI, gave a report on the theme of “How history textbooks infiltrate family-country emotion education”. This study takes Macao history textbooks as example to explore the infiltration of family-country emotion education and the characteristics of textbook development in Macao, it shows the real pattern and localization experience of the development of teaching materials in Macao.

The Report in Sub-forums

In the first sub-forum-Tradition and modern: new development of curriculum theory associate professor Wang Tao made a report entitled “Glocalization: international experience and Chinese construction of international understanding competence”. The report explores the Chinese construction of the concept and the connotation of international understanding competence. By combing the historical development of international understanding education and analyzing the text of international understanding competence in major countries and international organizations, this study preliminarily puts forward the concept and framework of “glocalized competence”. On this basis, Wang further discussed the construction of curriculum objectives and the development of its content system.

In the third sub-forum- The construction of teaching materials and the professional development of teaching and research officers, Wang Danyi, a doctoral student from ICI, gave a report on “The evolution of textbooks under knowledge transformation”. Starting from two major knowledge transformations, Wang clarified the evolution of the intrinsic nature and external representation of textbooks.

In the fourth sub-forum- The reform of evaluation method and practice innovation, associate professor Lei Hao made a report entitled “A study on the monitoring of the implementation of science curriculum in compulsory education- an analysis based on gap model”. Lei introduced how ICI carried out the provincial, municipal and autonomous region curriculum program implementation and large-scale survey of curriculum schedule. He used the “gap model” of curriculum evaluation to analyze the implementation of science curriculum in the stage of compulsory education in China.


Also in the fourth sub-forum, Lu Zhuotao, a doctoral student from ICI, gave a report on “A study on the policy identity of the new college entrance examination in Shandong province-from the perspective of target groups”. Lu pointed out that the current new college entrance examination policy has been acknowledged by senior high school students to some extent, but there is still a certain gap between the current new college entrance examination policy and the new college entrance examination policy that students expect.
