In order to speed up the cultivation of young talents in the field of philosophy and social sciences in Shanghai, Shanghai Oriental Youth Society has organized the selection of "Promising Young Scholar of Shanghai Social Science" since 2010, and has carried out 10 sessions, with no more than 10 young scholars been selected in each session.

Due to the pandemic, Shanghai Oriental Youth Society organized the selection in 2020 & 2021 together, with totally 14 young scholars been selected.
