ICI Honor║ICI was once again selected into the CTTI National University Think Tank Top 100 List with two "Special Prizes" for outstanding achievements

2022-12-21

On December 17, the "2022 New Think Tank Governance Forum" was held in Nanjing. This forum released the CTTI 2022 Top 100 University Think Tank List and outstanding achievements. The ICI was once again selected into the top 100 think tanks of CTTI universities. At the same time, the two achievements from Lei Hao and Zhang Wei won the special award for outstanding achievements in think tank research.

The ICI was selected as one of the first members of the National High-end Think Tank Alliance and the source think tank of the "China Think Tank Index (CTTI)" in 2017, and was successfully selected for two consecutive years in 2018 and 2022 as one of the top 100 university think tanks in CTTI. It is the only one selected in the field of curriculum research think tank.

"2022 CTTI Top 100 University Think Tanks List" is produced from a list of 441 university think tanks included in China's think tank index and evaluated from four aspects: think tank products (Product), think tank activities (Activity), think tank media influence (Impact) and think tank experts' subjective evaluation (Expert). Firstly, 120 think tanks are selected into the candidate pool based on the data of university think tanks in the CTTI system, and then experts in the field of think tanks and leaders of party and government departments conduct online evaluation and scoring. Finally, the scores of each university are obtained by combining objective and subjective scores. The "PAI-E" value of think tanks determines that 101 university think tanks are shortlisted (due to the exist of same scores, a total of 101 university think tanks are selected).

A total of 603 think tank achievements from 372 institutions participated in the selection of outstanding achievements this year. After the two steps of preliminary review by the working team and final review by the expert committee, a total of 225 think tank achievements were shortlisted for the list of outstanding achievements in think tank research, including 63 special prizes, 84 first prizes and 78 second prizes. The two achievements of Lei Hao and Zhang Wei, both from ICI, won the special awards for outstanding achievements in think tank research.

The Use of Teaching Materials and Coping Strategies in International Schools and Sino-foreign Cooperative Education

This was completed by Mr. Lei Hao, the deputy director of the ICI. The results specifically proposed coping strategies for the use of textbooks in international schools and Sino-foreign cooperative education.

The use of teaching materials is the most important thing in school education. Different schools choose different teaching materials, and the educational results will be different; different schools use the same teaching materials, but the use process is different, which will also lead to differences in educational results. For this reason, this achievement takes the use of teaching materials in international schools and Sino-foreign cooperative education as the entry point for in-depth analysis, and puts forward three suggestions for the use of teaching materials:

First, in terms of the goals of using teaching materials, it should be transformed from "focusing on knowledge and skills" to "cultivating core literacy";

Second, in terms of the use of teaching materials content, there should be a transition from "isolation of materials" to "organic integration" of different materials;

Third, regarding the monitoring and evaluation of the use of teaching materials, there should be a transformation from "mechanistically copying standards" to "promoting practice improvement".

GEM: The Nature, Dynamic relations and Policy implications of After-school Education

This was completed by Ms. Zhang Wei, the executive director of the International After-school Education Research Center of the ICI. It is the first systematic study on global after-school training governance. It was fully taken in the newly released Global Education Monitoring Report 2021/2022 and officially published by UNESCO.

Its contribution has been highly appraised by the Director-General of Education Sector of UNESCO. The report leads the theoretical and empirical research and development of international after-school education academically, and promotes the standardized management of after-school education, the construction of after-school services and the overall sustainable development of after-school education in practice. The Chinese experience shared in the report has greatly clarified the misunderstanding of the "double reduction" by international communities, and attracted the attention of policy makers in other countries. International mainstream media such as Economist and Times also interviewed the author, which further spread the excellent governance experience of China.
