Disciplinary Practices: Iterative Upgrade of “Independence,

Cooperation and Inquiry”

Prof. Cui Yunhuo

Director of ICI

Leader of Compulsory Education Curriculum Plan Revision Group

Why the new curriculum standard of compulsory education emphasizes the reform of the way of learning? For more than 20 years, the concept of “independence, cooperation and inquiry” advocated by the new curriculum has greatly promoted the classroom transformation. However, a prominent problem is that the inquiry is less rigorous and disciplinary typical, “fake inquiry” still exists in classrooms.

How to iterate “Independence, Cooperation and Inquiry”? Curriculum plan and standards of compulsory education emphasize to promote the reform of the way of education marked by disciplinary practices. Disciplinary practices represent the new direction of the reform of learning style. It is not the negation and replacement of inquiry learning, but reflects the further deepening of people’s understanding of subject education and calls for real disciplinary inquiry “from practices, in practices and for practices”.
