What is the linkage between recruitment, training and employment? What are the best ways to improve the quality of talent development? On the afternoon of June 21, teachers from the ICI held a special discussion on how to further optimize the whole process of graduate student enrollment and training. Introduction of ICI's recruitment, training and employment

At the meeting, Associate Professor Xiao Sihan, Deputy Head of the Department, made a special report on the "Status Quo and Mechanism of Integration of Graduate Recruitment, cultivation and employment" based on the enrollment and training employment data of the past 5-6 years, focusing on the source of graduate students, the blind review of dissertations, and the employment orientation of graduate students.

01 Sources of Graduate Students

From 2019 to 2023, the quality of graduate students are stable and improving.

02 Blind Reviews of Students

From 2019 to 2023, 52.8% of the doctoral dissertations submitted for blind review attained A&B grades;

From 2021 to 2023, 81.4% of the master's thesis submitted for blind review attained A&B scores. Among them, 25 people in 2023 got A&B results in blind examination, accounting for 96.1% of the total number of graduates, and the results of talent training were remarkable.

03 Graduates‘ employment

From 2019 to 2023, more than 90% of doctoral graduates will be employed in universities, teaching and research institutes;

From 2021 to 2023, more than 70% of master's graduates will be employed in teaching and research institutes, primary and secondary schools, and government units, and another 23% will choose to continue their studies.

Experiences Shared by Supervisors

Professor Gao Desheng shared his experience in recruitment and training of students. He pays attention to students' research interests, respects and gives full play to students' subjectivity, actively provides students with development platforms in training and employment, emphasizes the interaction between students as well as students and teachers, and helps graduate students improve their scientific research and academic capabilities.

At the meeting, all the participating supervisors combined their own teaching, education and scientific research experience, conducted in-depth discussions on how to optimize the enrollment and training of graduate students, and considered improving the enrollment mechanism for doctoral students, piloting the system of main and deputy supervisors for doctoral students, adjusting the ratio of exemption of examination to unified examination for master degrees, striving to further optimize the recruitment, standardize the cultivation process, and strengthen the quality of graduate students.

This teaching and research activity has built a platform for all tutors to communicate and learn, and also provided constructive suggestions for the department to optimize the integration mechanism of graduate student recruitment, training and employment. The department will continue to carry out teaching and research to promote the management and quality improvement of the whole process of postgraduate enrollment and training.
