ICI Successfully Held the 10th Shanghai International Curriculum Forum

The Institute of Curriculum & Instruction(ICI) ECNU, key research institute of humanities and social sciences in university, held “The 10th Shanghai International Curriculum Forum: Achievement Assessment and Evaluation” on November 2, 2012. A dozen of experts in achievement assessment and evaluation from America, Germany, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and over 200 scholars, graduate students, curriculum leaders and teachers from more than 10 provinces and cities in mainland attended this seminar.

Mr. Ren Youqun attended and addressed the opening ceremony. 12 domestic and international specialists and scholars gave theme reports of their own research background and shared large-scale achievement measurement models, measuring instruments, test constructions, statistics analysis and application, practices of school evaluation reform, and lasted development and successful experiences in classroom assessment.

Besides plenary speeches, there were 4 parallel sessions of “theories and techniques of large-scale achievement assessment”, “combination between classroom evaluation and instruction”, “research progress of innovative academic assessment and evaluation” and “experiences in schools and districts”.

On November 4, invited specialists attende round table meeting and discussed with scholars of ICI. Prof. Yang Xiangdong introduced the situation of the curriculum reform in China fundamental education and achievement assessment and evaluation. International experts and scholars suggested reform in China to take advantages of Chinese education. Both sides reached an agreement in research and personnel training of ICI and showed willingness to communicate and cooperate further.
