From April 1 to 4, ICI of East China Normal University held 1st “Shanghai Curriculum Roundtable Forum”. This forum focused on sociology of curriculum. Over 10 masters and new talents in sociology of curriculum research from Chinese University of Hong Kong, Beijing Normal University, Peking University, Remin University of China, Nanjing Normal University, and South China Normal University came to ECNU and discussed curriculum theories and practice of curriculum revolution deeply in the perspective of sociology.
Curriculum research is one of the strong research domains in our university. As the only one national key discipline in this area and key research institute of humanities and social sciences in university, ICI decides to establish “Academic Development Special Fund” for small high-level academic seminar with the subject of fundamental theory in curriculum. This forum is the first academic conference supported by “Academic Development Special Fund”.
In this roundtable forum, Prof. Zeng Rongguang, pro-dean and doctor of sociology of the educational administration and policy department in Chinese University of Hong Kong, gave 4 lectures: 1.the Development of the Sociology of Curriculum in Retrospect: Class, State, Knowledge and Curriculum; 2.Transformation of Class, State, and Knowledge in the Context of the 21st Century(On Social Class) ; 3.Transformation of Class, State, and Knowledge in the Context of the 21st Century(On Nation-State);4.Redefining the Sociology of Knowledge and Curriculum in the 21st Century.
Subsequently, Dr. Wu Yongjun from Nanjing Normal University, Dr. Liu Yunshan and Dr. Lin Xiaoying from Peking University, Dr. Luo Yun from Remin University of China, Dr. Ba Zhanlong and Dr. Ye Juyan from Beijing Normal University, Dr. Zhong Jingxun from South China Normal University, Dr. Dong Hui from Faculty of Pulic Administration in ECNU, Dr. Zhou Yong, Dr. Liu Lianghua and Dr. Ke Zheng from ICI did theme reports respectively and carried on sufficient and high-density discussion.
