In August 24th, 2014, Prof. Zhao Zhongjian of ICI met with Prof. Viktor Mayer-Schönberger of Oxford Internet Institute in University of Oxford, the best-seller of Big Data: A Revolution That Will Transform How We Live, Work and Think. As one of the authorities in big data research, Prof. Schönberger specialized in information management, famous for his publications—taking Delete: The Virtue of Forgetting in the Digital Age as another example.
Now Prof. Schönberger has brunched out into the field of education. The book Learning with BIG DATA: The Future of Education came out in the beginning of this year, as the result of the cooperation between Prof. Schönberger and Kenneth Cukier, dealing with the future of education in the age of big data. That’s of great insight. To translate the English publication into Chinese, Prof. Zhao met with the writer and asking for further interpretation on certain issues in the revolution of educational technology and invited him to give a lecture in ECNU. The detailed dialogue has already been put on the journal Global Education. The translation opened to the public with the support from ECNU press in the next year’s January.
