A Brief Introduction of the Reports

No.1
Evaluation of the Quality of School Curriculum Planning in China after 15 Years of Curriculum Reform
Brief Introduction:
The report mainly focused on the content composition of the school curriculum planning quality assessment tool, and the conclusions from using this tool to evaluate the sample school curriculum planning text:
1. School curriculum planning awareness and ability have been improved;
2. “Consistent” is a shortcoming of the quality of the school curriculum planning program;
3. Overall, schools with good test scores have lower quality of course planning programs than schools with poor test scores.
Based on the above conclusions, the rapporteurs and participants started a heated discussion.

No. 2
Transforming Fairness: Learning Opportunities in the Context of Curriculum Reform in China
Brief Introduction:
The report mainly focused on the distribution of ten learning opportunities under the three dimensions of student perception (learning goals, learning process and learning feedback), which were found in ICIC database.
Findings:
1. The most important goals of education reform are reflected in learning opportunities such as methods, differences, and expressions, but they are not fully showed in preparation, meaning, challenges, and feedback;
2. In comparison, the level of learning opportunities is less relevant to test scores, and more relevant to non-academic learning outcomes.

No. 3
Research on the Influence of Classroom Teaching Style in Chinese Middle Schools
Brief Introduction:
The report mainly focused on four types of classroom teaching styles in China: fully monologue, partially monologue, interactive one and student-autonomous one. At present, interactive classroom teaching style is dominant in China, and student-autonomous classroom teaching style is in the process of formation.
At the same time, the reporter also shared the distribution of the four teaching styles in different class sizes, different professional titles, and different beliefs.
Finally, based on the above research results, the rapporteurs and the participating experts discussed one by one.

No. 4
Chinese Parents’ Participation in Curriculum and School Education
Brief Introduction:
The report mainly focused on the situation of Chinese parents' participation in their children's education after 15 years of curriculum reform.
Based on the results of the statistical analysis, the research team reported four types of parental involvement in the school education of the children, and the relationship between these four types and the academic achievement and non-academic achievement of the students. The researchers further explored the relationship between parents’ socioeconomic status and their participation in students’ academic achievements.

No. 5
How Do Middle School Students Experience Homework in the Context of Chinese Curriculum Reform
Brief Introduction:
The report mainly focused on the current situation of homework experience of middle school students and its influencing factors.
The study found that student's homework experience has nothing to do with the time spending within weekdays, but it is related to the time spending and type of homework at weekends:
1. The longer the time spend on homework at weekends, the worse the students’ homework experience;
2. Repetitive assignments can lead to poor students’ experience, and creative or challenging types of assignments will make them experience better.

What Is ICIC Database Project?

The ICIC database project is a large-scale database project that was built during the 12th Five-Year Plan and the 13th Five-Year Plan period. It is also a landmark achievement of ICI as a key construction of national education think tanks.
The project brings together a large number of experts and scholars in the field of curriculum and instruction research and the first-line educators to participate in the process. We are trying to open the "black box" in the process of school education, and reveal the secrets of the school curriculum and instruction process.
In recent years, the project has harvested a series of research results, and has reached a cooperative publishing intention with the international famous publishing group----Springer. we are committed to share Chinese experience and wisdom to the international academic community.
