ICI Student Cultivation║ICI Successfully Held a Seminar on Improving the Training Quality of Graduate Students

In order to further improve the training quality of graduate students, ICI organized a seminar on “How to improve the quality of postgraduate dissertations”. The seminar was presided over by Associate Professor Zhou Wenye, the Director of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.

At the beginning of the seminar, Associate Professor Xiao Sihan, Deputy Director of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, reported on the evaluation results of candidates’ thesis of ICI in the past three years. He also shared the graduates’ feedback on their training process. ICI always attaches great importance to the quality of student cultivation. In order to comprehensively promote the management of graduate training in all aspects, we actively implement the construction of scientific research and education mechanism based on “tutorial system”, and optimize the construction of the evaluation system of graduate students training quality.

Then, professor An Guiqing, Gao Desheng, Hu Huimin, Ke Zheng, Wu Gangping and Zhou Yong shared their opinions, they emphasized the importance of establishing mentor groups. They also suggest that it would be better if we implement classified management, to cultivate students in accordance with their aptitude.

Professor Cui Yunhuo and Professor Liu Lianghua provided detailed written guidance for the seminar. They shared experiences about the roles and responsibilities of mentors, and further put forward suggestions on how to optimize the quality of postgraduates cultivation.

Li Wenfeng, a Deputy Director of the Graduate School of ECNU, and Zhao Qi, the Director of the Department of Teaching Affairs of the Faculty of Education at ECNU, also shared their opinions. They fully affirmed the positive exploration that the Department of Curriculum and Instruction has made in the aspects of academic degree and thesis management. They also expressed their anticipation that the Department of Curriculum and Instruction will play an exemplary and leading role, and further strengthen organizational leadership.

Finally, Associate Professor Zhou Wenye made a summary of the seminar: the Department of Curriculum and Instruction always adheres to the professional belief of “For curriculum, for students, for the future”. The department seeks to establish and improve the student training mechanism by carrying out a series of comprehensive reform. For instance, we strengthen the construction of the contingent of mentors, adhere to the principle of cultivating students through scientific research.
