I am Cui Yunhuo from the Institute of Curriculum and Institution at East China Normal University. I am an educational researcher. It is a great honor to be invited by the organizer of the China University Think Tank Forum to speak as a representative of university think tanks!
In-depth implementation of the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education, adhering to the priority development of education, and accelerating the construction of a strong country in education, science and technology, and talents are major strategic arrangements made at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Combining the work of East China Normal University's think tank construction in recent years, I mainly want to discuss with you the supporting role and responsibilities of university think tanks in the development of education. Here I would like to share three viewpoints on the positioning, mission and team building of think tanks for your opinions.
1. University think tanks are the boosters for building a "powerful country in education, science and technology, and talents"
General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: "Think tanks are an important part of the country's soft power." As an important part of the new think tank system with Chinese characteristics, university think tanks play an important role in promoting the process of Chinese-style modernization. The construction of university think tanks is the starting point for serving the scientific decision-making of the party and the government, and solving the difficult problems of education, science and technology, and talent development.
On the one hand, building a "powerful country in education, science and technology, and talents" requires the extensive participation of university think tanks. On the other hand, university think tanks have unique advantages in supporting the construction of "a country with strong education, strong science and technology, and strong talents".
2. University think tanks should be committed to creating independent knowledge systems and producing exemplary research results
General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out, "The construction of university think tanks should focus on improving research quality and promoting content innovation." This requires university think tanks to have "country first" in their hearts, use "innovation" as a powerful weapon, conduct research focusing on real problems, study real topics and solve real problems, striving to create an independent knowledge system, and produce forward-looking, strategic, and exemplary research results.
3. Strengthening team building is an important path to ensure the vitality and power of university think tanks
General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out, "we must attach great importance to and actively explore the organizational and management forms of new think tanks with Chinese characteristics", which puts forward new requirements for the team building of university think tanks. The essence of a think tank is a public institution that advises on demand. Its work is not carried out by a single scholar, but by the teamwork of a community with a common mission and vision. University think tanks need to strengthen team building and continuously improve their vitality and power.
It takes ten years to grow trees, and a hundred years to cultivate people. A strong youth makes a country strong, and a strong education makes a country strong! It is hoped that the education and research workers in our college think tanks can improve their awareness of positioning, strengthen their mission responsibility, and focus on team building; with the spiritual realm of "success does not have to be up to me" and the historical responsibility of "success must be up to me", we are all dedicated to the construction of a strong education country, helping the full realization of Chinese-style modernization.
