From November 4 to 14, 2023, Dr. Shi Yuchen, deputy director of ICI International Classroom Analysis Laboratory led a team to the UK for an academic week visit and conducted in-depth exchanges with multiple education research teams from the University of Cambridge with hope for cooperation in classroom observation, analysis and evaluation, primary school science inquiry curriculum, and teachers’ professional development and planned to strengthen exchanges through regular international conferences and academic seminars.

The International Classroom Analysis Laboratory of the Institute of Curriculum and Instruction of East China Normal University was established in 2017 and is mainly dedicated to exploring multiple paths for technology-empowered classroom research. For more information about the International Classroom Analysis Experiment, please visit the official website:

During the visit, the team from the Department of Education of East China Normal University communicated with many well-known professors from the University of Cambridge, including Sara Hennessy, Rupert Wegerif, Paul Warwick, Neil Mercer, Peter Dudley and Christine Howe, and listened to academic reports from experts. During the period, Dr. Shi Yuchen demonstrated the existing projects and results of the International Classroom Analysis Laboratory, including high-quality classroom analysis reports based on artificial intelligence. Dr. Shi Yuchen also introduced ICI’ s influence on academy, practice and national policies.

The International Classroom Analysis Laboratory looks forward to cooperating with multiple research centers such as CEDiR, Camtree, Oracy Cambridge, and DEFI at the University of Cambridge, including conducting inquiry courses in primary school science classes and conducting large-scale, long-term project about teacher professional development based on classroom observation and analysis.
